The concepts look great, but they’re unlikely to reach U.S. shores any time soon.
Honda’s next generation of electric vehicle are on their way very soon, and for American buyers, that should mean at least two cars in the 0-Series family and one confusingly-crossover-shaped Acura RSX. Inevitably, there will also be some new Honda EVs that are not meant for the U.S. market. During its press conference the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, the brand pulled the covers off two cool-looking near-production electric concepts that, unfortunately, are unlikely to ever reach our shores.
The first is a third car in the 0-Series family—a second SUV called the 0 Alpha. Unlike the larger 0 SUV, this seemingly production-ready concept is meant as what the brand calls a “gateway model” that would lower the entry price of the brand’s 0 cars in select markets. According to Honda, the car will be sold “globally, mainly in Japan and India,” starting in 2027.
Enthusiasts will be more interested in the second of Honda’s two new EV concepts, a small electric hot hatch concept called the Super-One. The car, which Honda calls a prototype, uses the basic shape and platform from the current N-series Kei cars sold in Japan. Details on real-world performance are not given, but Honda says that the Super-One has a “boost mode” that simulates a seven-speed gearbox, engine sounds, and even vibrations to enhance what the brand calls the “joy of driving.”
Since this model is based on a Kei car, it seems quite unlikely that Honda would bring a production-ready variant to America any time soon. That does not, however, mean that the car will be exclusive to Japan. Honda says that the Super-One’s production counterpart will launch in Japan next year before reaching “other markets with strong demand for compact EVs,” including the United Kingdom.
